New to NSYhair? 20 Questions You Should Know Before Your First Hair System
About NSYhair
What is NSYhair, and is it a brand I can trust for my first hair system?
NSYhair is a men's hair replacement brand that grew out of a factory. Our founder spent over 15 years manufacturing hair systems for established brands before launching NSYhair to sell directly to customers. We still make every order in our own production facility, with no distributors or retail studios in between. That is how we can offer our Duo System, two matched units for a price that is often what other brands charge for one. Today we serve thousands of customers in over 180 countries.
You shouldn't have to take our word for it, so here is what you can check before buying:
- A clear 30-day return and exchange policy. The full terms are published in our Return & Refund Policy, and our team will walk you through each step. Custom-made and custom-sized orders can't be returned, so we'll help you confirm size and color first.
- Matched-pair quality check. Both units in a Duo System are inspected side by side before they ship.
- Customer ratings. Rated about 4.7 out of 5 by verified buyers on our product pages.
- Fast replies. We answer WhatsApp messages and emails within 24 hours.
Not sure about our quality yet? You can start with a single system to try it, then choose the Duo System next time. If this is your first hair system, our Order Guide is a good place to begin, or message us with your questions.
Is NSYhair a manufacturer, a brand, or a third-party distributor?
NSYhair is both a manufacturer and a brand. We are not a third-party distributor. We started as a wholesale manufacturer, supplying hair systems to established brands, and we still make our hair systems in our own production facility. NSYhair is the brand we launched so customers could buy directly from the people who make them.
In practice, that means:
- We make what we sell. We produce hair systems only, handling the process from hair sourcing to the finished system. Accessories are not made in our facility.
- Duo Systems are built together. Both units use hair from the same batch and are finished by the same artisan, so they match closely.
- Orders ship direct. Your system goes from our production facility to your door, with no distributor or retail studio in between.

How is NSYhair different from other hair system brands?
The biggest difference is how we are built. NSYhair grew out of a factory that supplied hair systems to established brands for years, so we make our systems in our own production facility and sell them directly to customers. Many hair system brands sell through distributors or retail studios. We don't, which is why we can structure our pricing around the Duo System.
Here is what that looks like in practice:
- Duo System as our standard. Two matched units, one to wear and one to care for, so cleaning or repair days don't leave you without a system.
- Built as a pair. Both units use hair from the same batch and are finished by the same artisan, then inspected side by side before shipping.
- A low-risk way to start. If you'd like to test our quality first, you can order a single system and move to the Duo System later.
Every brand has its own strengths, so we suggest comparing base types, hair quality, customization options, and return policies side by side. We are happy to answer any of those questions about NSYhair.
What type of human hair does NSYhair use?
NSYhair systems are made with Indian human hair. Our hair selection team assesses every batch for elasticity, color consistency, and cuticle integrity before it is used, and both units in a Duo System come from the same batch, so they feel and look alike.
Our stock systems come in a standard hair length of 5 to 6 inches, which suits most everyday styles and leaves room to trim and shape the cut to your face. If you prefer more length, custom orders can be made in other lengths, such as 8, 10, or 12 inches. Custom orders can also be made with Remy hair for an additional charge.
In stock, you can choose from more than 47 shades, from #1 to #18 plus a wide range of blends with gray hair. In most gray blends, the gray strands are synthetic, while #1B65, #1B80, #365, and #380 are made with human hair. Custom orders can use any of these shades, and other colors are available too.
Because screens show color differently, we suggest ordering our color ring to compare shades against your own hair before you buy. Not sure which shade is closest? Send us a photo and our team will help you choose.
Pricing & Duo System
Why are NSYhair hair systems more affordable than many other well-known brands?
It comes down to structure, not shortcuts. Many hair system brands sell through distributors and retail studios, and part of what you pay covers rent, commissions, and the layers between the factory and you. NSYhair is a manufacturer that sells directly. We make our systems in our own production facility and ship them from there to your door, so that overhead never enters the price.
Building both units of a Duo System together also helps. We work from the same hair batch and the same artisan, which reduces setup time and material waste. We still inspect every pair side by side before it ships.
Our Duo Systems range from $289 to $399 depending on the model, which works out to roughly $144.50 to $199.50 per system. The second unit is built into the price as a backup, not sold as an add-on, and shipping on hair systems is free to every country we ship to. You can compare models on our men's hair systems page, or message us and we'll help you find the right fit for your budget.
What is the NSYhair Duo System, and why does it offer such a significant price advantage?
The Duo System is our standard: two matched hair systems in one order, built around the idea of "one to wear, one to care for." While one unit is being cleaned, repaired, or rested, the other is ready to wear, so routine maintenance never leaves you without a system.
Both units are made together. They use hair from the same batch, are finished by the same artisan, and are inspected side by side before shipping. By default, the two units have identical specifications. If you have a special request, contact us before ordering and we'll note it on your order.
The price advantage comes from our factory-direct model. We make and ship our systems ourselves, so the second unit is built into the price instead of sold as an add-on. Duo Systems range from $289 to $399 depending on the model, and rotating two units also means each one wears less often. Prefer to test our quality first? You can order a single system and choose the Duo System next time.
Are both hair systems in a Duo package made with the same quality and specifications?
Yes. By default, both units in a Duo System are made to identical specifications and are produced together, not pulled from separate stock. They use hair from the same batch and are finished by the same artisan, so the feel, density, and knot angle stay consistent across the pair.
Before your order ships, our quality control team places both units side by side for a direct comparison. A pair that doesn't match doesn't leave our workshop. Your second unit is never a stocked substitute.
If you have a special request, such as a different specification for the second unit, contact us before ordering and we'll note it on your order.
Why should I rotate two hair systems, and can doing so really reduce my long-term costs?
A hair system worn every day, with no break, ages faster. Daily wear, sweat, cleaning, and styling all add up, and there is no time for the base and knots to rest. With two systems, you alternate. Each unit is worn less often, which can help it last longer.
Rotation also makes maintenance easier. While one system is being cleaned or repaired, the other is ready to wear, so you never have to go without. This can take the pressure off cleaning days and small repairs.
As for cost, how long a system lasts depends on how you use it: how often you wear it, how you care for it, and your lifestyle. We can't promise a specific number, but sharing the wear between two units generally means each one needs replacing less often, so your spending can be spread out over a longer time. You can rotate on whatever schedule fits your routine. If you'd like to try one system first, you can order a single unit and choose the Duo System on your next order.
Should I start with a single hair system or choose the Duo System for my first purchase?
For most people, we recommend the Duo System. A hair system worn every day needs regular cleaning and the occasional repair, and with two units you always have one ready to wear. The second unit is also an economical way to get one. For stock systems, the Duo System adds about $100 to $130 to the new-customer single-system price, while two single systems bought separately would cost roughly $110 to $160 more than a Duo System, depending on the model.
A single system makes sense in one situation: you want to try our quality before committing. If this is your first hair system and you're not yet sure what to expect, that is a perfectly reasonable way to start, and you can choose the Duo System on your next order.
Still unsure? Tell us about your routine, such as how often you plan to wear it and whether you exercise, and our team will recommend the better fit. You can see single and Duo prices for each model on our men's hair systems page.
Product Quality & Durability
How is the quality of the human hair used in NSYhair systems, and how long does it stay soft and natural?
Quality starts with selection. Our systems use Indian human hair, and every batch is assessed for elasticity, color consistency, and cuticle integrity before it is used. The hair is then hand-tied with a fine micro-knotting technique that follows the natural direction of hair growth, which helps it move and lie naturally.
How long it stays soft depends mostly on how it is worn and cared for. Human hair on a hair system is not nourished by the scalp, so it needs gentle handling: mild shampoo, a conditioner suited to your hair, low heat when styling, and not wearing the same system every day without a break. Sweat, chlorine, sun, and harsh products can all speed up wear.
This is where a Duo System helps. Alternating two units gives each one time to rest between wears, which can help keep the hair feeling soft for longer. We can't give a fixed timeline, because it varies from person to person. If you tell us about your routine, our team can suggest a care approach that fits it.
How long does an NSYhair hair system typically last? Does the lifespan vary by base material?
The base material does make a difference:
- 0.03mm UTSV is our thinnest base. It is the lightest and most discreet, and it needs the most careful handling.
- 0.06mm STSV is thicker than UTSV and more durable.
- 0.08mm STSV-08 is our thickest skin base and the most durable of the three.
- HLW (Hybrid) tends to last relatively longer than the thinnest skin base.
In general, the thinner the base, the more natural and lightweight it feels, and the more gently it needs to be treated. A thicker base gives up a little of that lightness in exchange for durability.
Rotating two systems in a Duo System also helps, since each unit is worn less often. If you tell us about your routine, such as how often you plan to wear it and whether you exercise, our team can help you choose the base that suits you.
What is the difference between 0.03mm UTSV, 0.06mm Skin, French Lace, and Hybrid systems?
The main difference is the base material, which changes how thin, breathable, and durable a system feels. Skin bases are non-porous and sit flat against the scalp, while lace bases are breathable. Our Hybrid combines the two.
| 0.03mm UTSV | 0.06mm STSV | French Lace (FFLE) | Hybrid (HLW) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base | Ultra-thin transparent skin, V-looped | Slightly thicker transparent skin, V-looped | Full French lace, bleached knots, reinforced stitching | French lace top and front, thin skin perimeter |
| Feel | Our thinnest and lightest | Thin, with a more secure feel | Soft and fully breathable | Breathable top, easier to handle and attach than full lace |
| Durability | Needs the most careful handling | More durable than UTSV | Reinforced stitching for added durability | Relatively longer-lasting |
| Most often attached with | Glue | Glue | Tape | Tape |
Any base can be attached with glue or tape, so the choice comes down to your habits. If you want even more durability from a skin base, we also offer a 0.08mm option. Not sure which suits you? Tell us about your routine and we'll help you choose.
How natural is the hairline on an NSYhair system?
We build every system to look natural at the hairline, and the method depends on the base:
- Skin bases (UTSV, STSV): The hair is V-looped through an ultra-thin transparent base, so there are no visible knots at the hairline, and the base blends with your scalp.
- Lace bases (FFLE, HLW): Bleached knots at the front help the knots blend with your skin tone.
Across all bases, we use fine micro-knotting that follows the natural direction hair grows from the scalp.
How natural a system looks day to day also depends on color match, density, and how it is cut and styled. A professional cut-in can help blend the hairline with your own hair. If you want to adjust the hairline shape itself, our custom service offers several front contour options.
Can I customize the density, hair direction, color, and hairline?
Yes. Through our custom service, you can choose:
- Density: from Light 80% to Medium-Heavy 130%
- Hair direction: free style, crown, parting, break, or brushed back
- Color: a wide range of shades, plus gray blends from 10% to 80%
- Hairline: front contour shapes (Standard, A, AA, C, CC) and bleached knots along the perimeter, parting area, or throughout
- Also: hair length from 6 to 14 inches, wave or curl, base design, and base size
Custom orders can also be made as a Duo System. Contact us and we'll confirm the details with you. If you prefer Remy hair, it is available on custom orders for an additional charge.
Our stock systems are ready to ship sooner, with choices of color and base size (and density on FFLE). Custom systems are made to order, so delivery takes longer, and because they are made to your measurements, they can't be returned. Our team will walk you through every option before you order, so you can choose with confidence.
Finding the Right System
How do I choose the right NSYhair system for my hair loss and lifestyle?
Start with two questions: how do you want it to look, and how do you live?
There is no single right base for each type of hair loss. It comes down to the look and feel you prefer. A practical way to choose:
- Thin, flat, low-profile base: skin (0.06mm STSV, or 0.03mm UTSV if you're comfortable with careful handling)
- Breathability first: full French lace (FFLE)
- A bit of both: Hybrid (HLW), with a French lace top and front and a thin skin perimeter
Then think about your routine: whether you'll wear it every day, work out, sweat a lot, and how comfortable you are with applying and removing it. If you plan to wear it daily, a Duo System lets you rotate two units.
Not sure? Tell us about your hair loss and your routine, and our team will suggest a base that fits.
If I'm wearing a hair system for the first time, should I choose Skin, Lace, or Hybrid?
For a first system, we suggest the 0.06mm STSV skin base or the HLW Hybrid.
- 0.06mm STSV (skin): A thin, transparent, V-looped base that is more durable than our thinnest 0.03mm option and gives a secure fit. It is most often worn with glue.
- HLW (Hybrid): A French lace top and front for a breathable, natural hairline, with a thin skin perimeter that is easier to handle and attach than full lace. It is most often worn with tape.
Our 0.03mm UTSV is the lightest but needs the most careful handling, and full lace FFLE is the most breathable. Both are good choices once you know what you prefer. If you want to learn the routine without pressure, a Duo System gives you a second unit while you get used to it, or you can start with a single system.
Which base is best if I wear my system every day, exercise regularly, or sweat a lot?
If you wear your system daily, work out often, or sweat a lot, we suggest FFLE or HLW.
- FFLE (full French lace): Fully breathable, so heat and moisture can escape, with reinforced stitching for added durability.
- HLW (Hybrid): A breathable lace top and front, with a thin skin perimeter that is easier to attach than full lace.
Both are most often worn with tape. Skin bases can also work for an active lifestyle with a secure application, so the choice depends on what you prefer.
Sweat and daily wear are demanding on any system. Rotating two units in a Duo System gives each one time to rest, and gentle care between wears helps. Tell us how you train or how much you sweat, and our team can help you choose.
What is the difference between a Stock System and a Custom System, and which one is better for a first-time buyer?
A Stock System is made in advance to a standard specification, with 5 to 6 inch hair and a choice of base size and color. It ships sooner, and it is covered by our 30-day return and exchange policy (conditions apply).
A Custom System is made to order to your own specifications: density, hair direction, front contour, hair length (6 to 14 inches), wave or curl, base design, and base size. It takes longer to arrive, and because it is made to your measurements, it can't be returned.
For a first-time buyer, we suggest starting with a Stock System. It arrives faster, and it lets you see how a hair system fits into your routine before you decide on finer details. If you already know exactly what you want, such as a specific density, parting, or length, custom is the better choice. Either way, our team can help you decide.
Purchase & After-Sales Support
What happens if the color, size, density, or quality of my system isn’t what I expected? Can I return or exchange it?
We want you to be happy with your system, so here is how each situation works.
Quality issues. If something looks wrong when your system arrives, email us at support@nsyhair.com or message us on WhatsApp with your order number and clear photos. We'll review it, and if the issue is on our side, we will arrange a replacement or a refund. We cover the shipping for any replacement we send.
Returns and exchanges. Stock systems can be returned or exchanged within 30 days if they are unworn, unwashed, and in their original packaging. For returns that aren't due to a quality issue, return shipping and any customs duties are the customer's responsibility.
Size. Once a system has been cut to size, we can't accept it for return or exchange, because a cut system can't be resold. Custom-made orders, including custom sizes, can't be returned or exchanged either. That's why we're happy to help you measure before you order.
Color. Screens display colors differently, so we can't accept returns based on color differences. Our color ring lets you compare shades in person before you buy.
If your situation isn't covered here, contact us and we'll be glad to help.
How can I choose the right model, size, color, and density to avoid making a mistake with my first NSYhair purchase?
Take it one choice at a time, and ask us if you're unsure.
- Model: For a first system, many people start with the 0.06mm STSV (skin) or the HLW (Hybrid). If you sweat a lot or want maximum breathability, consider FFLE or HLW.
- Size: Measure the length from the center of your front hairline across the middle of your head. For the width, start about 1 inch back from the temple point on one side, go over the top, and end 1 inch back on the other side. Our standard base is 8" x 10". Choosing a smaller size means we cut it before shipping, and a cut system can't be returned, so measure carefully.
- Color: Lower numbers are darker (#1 is the darkest, #60 the lightest), and in gray blends the last digits show the percentage of gray. Order our color ring to compare in person.
- Density: Pick a density that blends with your own hair. A more subtle look often works better than the most hair possible. Skin bases suit lighter densities, while lace bases can carry a little more.
Not sure about any of these? Send photos of your existing hair to support@nsyhair.com, and our team will help you choose.
